i am a vegetarian.

I went to see this documentary last night and it was enormously convincing. I would encourage anyone to see it:

I should explain that I would eat responsibly produced meat and that I'm also going to make a concerted effort to avoid processed foods that include corn starch/syrup, as well as produce that's been shipped half-way around the world. Really, I've wanted to do this forever; I've just been too lazy. I think at this point, I can't have a clear conscience unless I do:

Doctrine & Covenants 89

10 And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—
11 Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving.
12 Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly;
13 And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine.

I think it won't be too hard. I had a bowl of oatmeal mixed with Miriam's home made jam this morning. It was delicious.

And, speaking of farm animals, this has still got me laughing.

That is great. We don't eat much meat around here. We still eat it just not a lot. It will probably be healthier anyway right:)

Hi, Laura. I found you through Suvi's comment page. I just read the post about Jared and the fellowship. It's something I've thought about a million times because I'm married to the "fellowship" type. I love that I get to kind of be part of that relationship by default now but there certainly are differences, aren't there.

We do this, too! Here's my understanding: I think Heavenly Father has made us stewards of the earth and the things on it, and I have a responsibility to take care of the earth and the animals. So I try to make food choices that reflect my belief! A good book I read a while ago is The Way We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter. Thanks for the movie recommendation!--Excited to see it!

You might want to read up a little bit on blood type and diets it you are an O neg. I tried being a vegetarian for two years. I got sick and then started eating a little red meat and got healthy. I have talked to lots of successful vegetarians and none of them have the O bloodtype. Many of them have told me that having type O blood is not compatible with strict vegetarianism. Anyway, I am mostly vegetarian, but for my health, I still eat some meat. Something to consider perhaps.

if you were to pay close attention, you would notice that i will still eat meat that isn't processed in a factory. i can eat hebrew nationals and expensive meat purchased at a health food store.
